Carrier-Free iPad Air
If you are already impressed by Apple’s iPad Air as the fastest, thinnest, lightest and best-performing tablet right now, then you will be blown when you add that it is also the world’s first truly global mass-market mobile device.

The goal of having only one model for the entire globe regardless of the carrier has been the dream of several telecommunication companies. Apple was the first to achieve this with iPad Air.

The iPhone 5S would have earned this distinction a few months ago, but the slow march toward this goal is slow and risky. Apple finally pulled a breakthrough and decided to sell all their iPad Air unlocked. This means that every cellular model from Apple supports the same GSM/GPRS/EDGE/CDMA/EVDO/UMTS/WCDMA/HSPA/HSDPA/LTE bands regardless of whether it was purchased from AT&T or Verizon model. Anybody with this unit can can freely switch to any carrier in the world without issue in the future.

This novel concept, allows Apple clients to conveniently bring their US$ 1,000 devices with them to another carrier, though it has been incredibly difficult for regular consumers to do this in the past. There are no strings attached.

A lot of people may think that there is some sort of conspiracy involved or additional hidden costs somewhere in the contract, but the concept is simple. Regardless of what carrier is chosen when buying an iPad Air, the unit will still work. There are no lockouts.

The only thing that is actually carrier-specific is the SIM card that comes with it. Simply insert any other SIM card, and even if you have a CDMA carrier like Verizon or Sprint, the iPad Air will configure itself and let you use it with whatever carrier you desire.
