Another Apple Event on 16 October

New iPad
Another event is expected from Apple on 16 October 2014. However, unlike the major launching of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus last 9 September, this will be a low-key event.

The event expects to satisfy the cravings of tech junkies for new gear and futuristic gadgets. Technology news site Re/code reported that Apple events will highlight updates to the iPad line, as well as new iMacs and the latest OS X operating system.

According to people who know the plans, Apple is going to add a gold-colored iPad in a bid to increase sales in the iPad category. It is also expected that the 9.7-inch iPads will include gold as a color option.

Meanwhile, the iPad Air will be available in silver and grey. This will make the iPads come in the same color option as the 5S, with space grey with a black faceplate, or gold or silver backs with a white faceplate. Apple has used color in the past to boost sales

The iPad was once a sales dynamo, but lately it's been struggling. In it's most recent quarterly filing, Apple said iPad revenue had slipped 8 percent from a year before and the number of units it sold fell similarly. The device still makes up about 16 percent of the company's total sales.

Apple has not put out a new iPad since October 2013, and people have been choosing phones with larger screens. Approximately half of the people who bought the new iPhone chose the larger of the two, the iPhone 6 Plus.

With an increasingly varied range of iPads and a new collaboration with IBM, the updates unveiled later this month might be enough to get the device jibing with the rest of the company's renewed mojo.
