Coca-Cola believes that the only thing more beautiful in America are the people who live there. This was clear when they aired their latest advertisement during the Super Bowl break.

Considered as some of the most expensive advertising real estate in the world, US National Football League's championship game showed a minute and a half spot featuring "Star Spangled Banner" (not "America the Beautiful" mind you) sung in at least seven different languages, including Filipino (not Tagalog, capish).

Aired during a commercial break in the first half of the game, the Coca-Cola ad for this year’s game showed a multilingual America with a rich diversity of cultures and families.

The only problem with the ad is that it stirred a lot of reactions, both positive and negative, and has even pitted some Filipinos against other minorities.

The spot has earned praise from those who identified with some of the languages used, including Pinoys online who recognized the line “Sa ibabaw ng mga prutas!” as translation for the line "Above the fruited plain!"

But some on social media were also quick to judge the rendition of the song, with some saying it violated the very American-ness of the patriotic hymn.

The WolverineGT posted a comment saying that, "The anthem in itself is in ENGLISH when you alter it then it no longer becomes the ENGLISH version nor is it American, it doesn’t matter what language you speak in this country or the color of your skin the alteration of this classic American anthem need be left alone! Stop changing &*^% to sound important!"

"I understand the meaning, but I don't go to Spain, Germany or any other country and expect them to learn English, I expect to learn their language," added Sober Waffles on a popular video loading site.
