Funny Take On MacBook Pro's Lack of Ports

After Apple decided to drop all but the USB-C ports on its latest MacBook Pro model, it would be an understatement to say that not a few people are annoyed, especially those who’d been waiting an inordinate amount of time for the refreshed laptop to arrive.

So why did it do it? According to an "Apple engineer" in a new parody video (see below), it's so the tech giant could boost profits by forcing users to buy a bunch of dongles. Actually, some might agree with him.

Created in the same way as those amusingly subtitled Downfall videos, the engineer, who "worked in Apple's laptop division," explains to an interviewer that during the development of the latest MacBook Pro, Apple boss Tim Cook pressured them to create something more profitable than the iPhone.

At a meeting, one of the team members suggested they should "remove the ports and sell them as dongles." Recounting the story, the engineer is unable to contain himself at the sheer absurdity of the idea – or possibly the pure brilliance of it.

Laughing uncontrollably, he especially enjoys the idea that everyone who buys Apple's latest laptop will "have to carry around a bag full of dongles," adding that Tim Cook is "crazy for dongles."

There's plenty more choice lines that'll have anybody chuckling.

Responding to the outcry from disgruntled Apple fans looking to buy a new MacBook Pro, the Cupertino company slashed the prices of its range of USB-C dongles last 4 November.

The company said it recognized that "many users, especially pros, rely on legacy connectors to get work done today and they face a transition. We want to help them move to the latest technology and peripherals, as well as accelerate the growth of this new ecosystem."

The price cuts, which will save users between US$ 10 and UD$ 20 a pop, will run till the end of the year.
